My Christmas Traditions

Hi! Welcome to Blogmas Day 11!

I can’t believe how quickly Blogmas has gone by – it’s already the second to last post! Today I’m going to talk about some of my family’s Christmas traditions. Enjoy!

For as long as I can remember we have always gotten a real tree at Christmas! Where we go changes year to year, but typically we go to a local Christmas tree farm and cut down our own, which is always so fun! This year we went somewhere we hadn’t gone before, and it had a food truck selling cider, hot chocolate, and fresh warm cider doughnuts. It was so fun!

Like a lot of people, I have an “aunt,” “uncle,” and “cousin” I’m not actually related to. My aunt is actually my mom’s childhood best friend, and they happen to live at the end of our street! Every Christmas Eve morning we get together and exchange gifts and make breakfast together. It’s one of my favorite things!

Every year we have people over our house on Christmas Eve. I absolutely love hosting holidays so this is such a fun night for me! As the family has gotten older and people have moved away, things have changed a little bit and we now have family over in the afternoon for an early dinner since some of the family is now in New Hampshire a few hours away. It’s still a lot of fun and we get to go to bed early, so it’s a win-win.

My family started this eccentric tradition a few years ago. My house has a big, wooden staircase and every Christmas Eve we have slinky races down the stairs! Everyone gets extremely competitive and it’s always a lot of fun. It’s serious business; we have a trophy and everything!

Chrismas morning when we all wake up, we make some coffee and open all of our presents, and then maybe eat some chocolate for breakfast. Pretty typical Christmas morning tradition.

Christmas day we go to my aunt and uncle’s house for a late lunch/early dinner. This year we changed things a bit and we’re doing brunch instead which I’m pretty excited about! I’m still considering wearing Christmas pajamas instead of an actual outfit…
