Hi! Welcome back to my blog, and welcome to my first post of 2020!!
I’m so excited for this year! I always find a new year so refreshing and such a perfect time to reflect and improve upon my life. Self-improvement is a hot topic during January, so I wanted to share 15 ways you can make 2020 the best year yet! Enjoy!
1. WAKE UP EARLIER
Try going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier in the morning. Getting a head start on your day in the morning will help make you much more productive and you won’t be as busy later on in the day.
2. START JOURNALING
Journaling is a great outlet! You have the freedom to write whatever you want, or even just doodle for a bit to get out some creativity. I used to journal almost every day for years, and I want to bring it back in 2020!
3. LEARN NEW RECIPES
This is my main goal for 2020, actually. Learning new recipes is great because home-cooked meals are typically healthier and cheaper, plus learning new recipes can help expand your pallet and skills in the kitchen!
4. PERFECT YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE
If you’re someone who sometimes doesn’t wash your face before bed or skips out on skincare for a few days, 2020 is your year to fix that! Skincare is really important, especially if you’re acne-prone. Make your focus for 2020 to fix up your routine and emphasize the importance of your skin.
5. FOCUS ON SELF-CARE
We’ve all slacked on taking proper care of ourselves at some point in our lives. This year, make self-care a priority, whether that’s reading a chapter of a book before bed, journaling daily, or trying a new face mask over the weekend.
6. USE YOUR PHONE LESS
It’s easy to get sucked into your phone and waste time continuously scrolling on social media. Make an effort this year to put your phone down and focus on what’s going on around you. It’ll really make a difference!
7. TRY A NEW WORKOUT ROUTINE
The new year is all about trying new things! Take the leap and sign up for the new gym or yoga studio you’ve been considering joining, get a personal trainer, or try a new workout program at home.
8. SAVE MORE MONEY
Skip going out for a coffee one morning, or start packing lunches for work or school. Save up some money throughout the year so you can use it for something fun like a vacation or your passion!
9. COMPLAIN LESS
The words you speak out into the world really do have an effect on your mood and overall vibe of your life. I know that sentence totally makes me sound like Kourtney Kardashian, but it’s true! Complain less and put good vibes out into the world and you’ll be rewarded.
10. THE POWER OF MANIFESTATION
Similar to no. 9, manifest what you want. The power of visualization and manifestation is real! Do your research and start manifesting!
11. DROP TOXIC PEOPLE
Losing friends can be difficult to deal with, but if you have a toxic friend, you owe it to yourself to cut ties. It’s a brand new year and a brand new DECADE! Drop the toxicity and surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself.
12. SET ACTIONABLE GOALS
Instead of making a new year’s resolution “I want to run a 5k this year” make it an actionable goal! Try saying “I will run the *specific 5k* on April 2nd this year.” Now you have an end date and specific race picked out so you know exactly what you’re working for.
13. BUY A NEW PLANNER YOU’LL ACTUALLY USE
A good planner can go a long way! Find yourself a planner that satisfies all of your needs and use it to track everything and keep yourself organized.
14. BE MORE SPONTANEOUS
Getting stuck in the same old routine can get super boring. Start saying yes to new adventures and be more spontaneous! Sometimes the best days are when you spend it with a friend, finding new and fun things to do!
15. DON’T SWEAT IT
The new year can be really exciting because you have so many opportunities, but that can also be overwhelming. 2020 doesn’t have to be perfect for it to be a great year. Nothing in life is perfect. Just focus on improving yourself and making sure you’re happy and 2020 will be the best year yet! And if not, don’t sweat it.
