10 Things to Do While Social Distancing

Hi! Welcome back to my blog!

With the current climate and the urge for social distancing, many people are stuck at home for the next few weeks. With being home for so long, boredom is bound to hit at some point. That’s why today I’m sharing a list full of things you can do at home while social distancing or even self-quarantining.

Even if you’re reading this after the COVID-19 pandemic, I think this blog post will serve as a great place for ideas if you are home for a snow day, are sick in general, or just want a weekend at home with your family or by yourself. So if you need some ideas for spending time at home, keep reading!

1. READ A NEW BOOK

Have a book on your shelf that you swore you’d read eventually? Use your abundance of free time to sit down and start reading it!

2. FIND NEW SHOWS TO STREAM

Now’s the time to start new shows or find new movies on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc. Haven’t seen Frozen 2? It’s now available for streaming on Disney+!

3. GO FOR A WALK OUTSIDE

Being stuck inside for a long time can be stressful and make you feel anxious and stuck. Help combat those feelings by going outside for a walk! Getting some fresh air is really good for you, so even if it’s just a short walk to the end of the street, get outside and get moving.

4. DO SOME AT-HOME WORKOUTS

Since you might not be able to make it to the gym, try some at-home workouts! Popsugar Fitness on YouTube is one of my favorite channels for at-home workouts. They have so many workouts to choose from, there’s something for everyone!

5. FIND SOME NEW BLOGS

I know for me, when life gets really busy I don’t have much time to read posts from many bloggers that I follow. Now that we’ve got more time on our hands, I can get caught up on posts from my favorite bloggers! Use this time to get caught up or dive into new blogs altogether.

6. BAKE SOMETHING YUMMY

Whenever I feel stressed, I love to bake. If you’re feeling anxious about everything or even just feeling bored, try baking a treat! It gives you something fun to do and then you have something yummy to eat over the next few days.

7. TRY A NEW RECIPE

You’ll most likely be eating most meals at home, so take this time to try out a new recipe! I have a whole Pinterest board of recipes to make, so I’m sure I’ll be working through some of these during the next few weeks.

8. START A NEW CREATIVE HOBBY

Try learning to scrapbook, knit, or sew. Or maybe you can try writing more, painting, or starting your own blog/YouTube channel. Heck, take some time to learn a new Tik Tok dance or whatever creative activity you’ve always wanted to do!

9. JOURNAL

Write everything out. Clear your mind of any anxieties you might be feeling, write about the dreams you have during the night and your naps, or even make a bucket list for things you want to do once everything is normal again. Just have a total brain dump onto paper and see what you end up writing!

10. CLEAN AND DO YARDWORK

Got a junk drawer that’s always bothered you? Organize it. Need to finally mow your lawn? Do it. Get your house organized while you have the downtime, and do some yard work to get some fresh air.

In a time like this, staying home if you’re able to is extremely important. I know being able to stay home in a privilege, so it’s important to make sure that if you are able to, you should. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay SMART. Leave a comment below with your favorite show to stream so fellow readers can get new ideas!

  1. YES!! These are such great ideas! I just put a blogpost up about things to do during social distancing too: great minds think alike, or else we are all in the same boat. I think it might be the latter. 😂 I definitely want to do more creative things during the free time that I have!
