We all want to be confident, but it can be really hard to get there if we’re full of self-doubt. Building up confidence can be a long journey, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make yourself appear more confident than you currently are. Today I’m sharing 5 tips to look more confident to people, even if you’re really not. Keep up with these tips and you’ll find yourself building more and more confidence as time goes on!
1. IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE
Pull your shoulders up, back, and down, and your posture will immediately improve! When you want to appear more confident, make sure you are sitting or standing straight instead of slouched forward. Good posture always makes someone look more confident.
2. MAKE EYE CONTACT
When speaking to someone, work on making good eye contact. This shows that you are confident in what you are saying, and that you are genuinely listening to what they say back.
3. SMILE MORE
The nicest people always seem more confident than those who are rude and snarky. Smiling makes you look more approachable and welcoming, which will make you seem more confident to others.

4. WEAR CLOTHES YOU’RE COMFORTABLE IN
Have you ever worn an item of clothing that you constantly have to adjust? It’s never a good look, and it makes you feel uncomfortable. Wearing clothes you like and that fit you well are a great and easy way to help make you look more confident. No more tugging at shorts that ride up or pulling on a top that keeps falling down. Find something that fits and that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
5. STOP OVER APOLOGIZING
This is one of the biggest tips I can give. Stop apologizing too much! Do you start your emails with “sorry for the late reply…” or say “sorry for that!” when someone points out a small mistake on a piece of work? STOP. Instead try “thanks for your patience” or “nice catch! Just updated it.” This small bit of rephrasing when talking to people will make the world of a difference.
The most confident-looking person in a room is typically the one who is happy, friendly, communicative, and assertive. If you try to embody these characteristics with your body language and communication with others, you’ll easily be on your way to looking like the most confident person wherever you go!
