The morning is so important for setting yourself up for a successful and happy day. I’m a big fan of having a morning routine, so I wanted to share 5 habits I’ve developed that set me up for success in the morning!
DON’T HIT SNOOZE
This can be a hard one if you’re stuck in the habit of hitting snooze every morning, but it’s such an important habit to break! Whenever I hit snooze I end up being way more tired and groggy the rest of the morning than days when I get up immediately. Try putting your alarm across the room to help train yourself to get out of bed right away.
GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO GET READY
Don’t you hate waking up and having to rush to get dressed, brush your teeth, and run out the door? Get up early enough so you have enough time to get ready for your day at a normal pace. This way you won’t start off feeling rushed and stressed, which effects your mood for the rest of the day.
DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF
This can be different for everyone. Whether it’s getting in a morning workout, going outside for a walk, sipping on a cup of tea, or writing in a journal, take some time to do something that makes you feel good. Even if it’s just holding a couple of yoga poses for 5 minutes, taking time to do something for yourself before the day fully starts is such a great way to set yourself up for success right away in the morning.
MAKE YOURSELF BREAKFAST
Taking the time to make yourself breakfast instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin every day will save you more money and be much more nutritious. You know what they say – breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Whip together something to eat before heading out the door and your body and wallet will thank you.
DRINK A GLASS OF WATER BEFORE HAVING CAFFEINE
This is a habit I’ve recently been implementing into my mornings. Before having your morning coffee/tea/energy drink, fill a glass of water and make sure you finish it first. Caffeinated drinks can actually dehydrate you, so making sure you have some water before that will really help! I also find that when I drink water early in the morning I’m more likely to drink more throughout the entire day.
Starting your morning off on a good foot is the best way to set yourself up for a happy and successful rest of the day. Which habits will you be implementing? As always, if you liked this post, be sure to click here to subscribe to emails and follow me on Instagram @successandselfcare!
